SESSION #4 - Fernando Ramos
$20.00 - $50.00
Level Play is a workshop focused on our relationship with the floor and how to best navigate transitioning to and from the floor. Through improvisation, conditioning, and phrase work we'll explore the different relationships we can have with the floor. Whether new to floorwork or experienced, we'll introduce and go deeper into concepts of anchoring, sliding, rolling, and undulating through the floor.
BIOGRAPHY:
Fernando Ramos is a queer Puerto Rican movement artist based in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Ramos passionately researches contemporary approaches to movement from Floorwork to Countertechnique to influence his practice as a mover, but also as a dancer educator and choreographer. His work explores themes of community, individuality, mythology, and communication.
He believes in the power of opportunity, thus he has created various platforms to offer other artists spaces to grow, investigate, and deepen in their practice. As the founder, and one of the producers of CONTEMPORA, he foments contemporary dance training through a summer intensive in both Puerto Rico and Santa Fe, original creations through a summer dance festival in Puerto Rico, and professional opportunities to young dancers through CO2.
He currently serves as the Chair of the Dance Department at the New Mexico School for the Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico where he also recently founded Ramos Danza. He also proudly continues his collaborations with artists such as Kennie Vaga, Rafael Cañals, Gaby Hernández, and Omar Román De Jesús.
